Be it the murmuration of the birds or the school of fishes. I am in awe of the coordinated movements. Kolam is also very similar. There are small patterns within this 13cm kolam. But it becomes a single entity in the way the connections have happened. The murmuration are a way of communication. Sending a message to the predators that they are a large group, stronger together. It symbolizes  the beauty of imperfection. The spots that are broken are connected in gold color. Just like Kintsugi, Kolam is also a connection. It is one of the ways to feel connected to yourself. We might not be able to restore originality to things that we broke. The checkered board design was made first, later the star kolam, a commonly drawn kolam on festive days was added on it.
