It broke. But it was fixed.

The feelings:

It is very common for things to be broken
Some with passage of time
Some with repeated usage
Other times with emotion
Do you get that I am hiding behind the things?
I got a scar on my forehead and covered it with hair
I got a scar on my thigh and stopped wearing shorts
I got a hurt heart and learnt to keep it quiet
I got words that never left my mouth
Time has passed,
Journeys have been made
Now it is time for those scars to shimmer
For now, I do not have to cut my hair to fall on my forehead
A reminder that I need not be perfect, but the connections formed through these experiences are enough.
Good enough to be loved.

About the painting:
The art of Kintsugi, fixing broken ceramics with gold is a beautiful way to restore and highlight the scars left behind. I see Kintsugi as a healing technique, a new way to look at a broken piece.
Kolam is also a connection. It is one of the ways to feel connected to yourself.
A reminder that things are still beautiful no matter how many times they were broken.
Materials used:
Gesso for texture
Acrylic paints, markers.
